Board Member & Treasurer – Yogahood Australia Commitment: Minimum two-year term

About the Role Yogahood Australia is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to bringing the physical and mental benefits of yoga and mindfulness to communities and neighbourhoods in need.

We are seeking a dedicated finance professional to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. In this dual-purpose role, you will serve as a key strategic leader shaping the future of our organisation, while also acting as the custodian of our day-to-day financial health. This role is ideal for a finance professional who is equally comfortable providing high-level governance and rolling up their sleeves to manage essential transactional duties.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Governance & Operations (Treasurer Duties): **Transactional Management: **Oversee and execute day-to-day financial tasks, including bookkeeping, processing monthly transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records. Budgeting & Reporting: Lead the development of the annual budget and present clear, concise monthly financial reports to the Board. Compliance: Ensure the organisation complies with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements (including ACNC reporting if applicable).

Strategic Board Leadership: **Strategic Direction: **Attend monthly virtual board meetings to help shape the organisation’s strategic plan, policies, and programs. **Risk Management: **Provide sound guidance on financial risks, operational matters, and funding sustainability. Ambassadorship & Fundraising: Act as a spokesperson for Yogahood Australia, helping to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, donors, and corporate sponsors.

Qualifications & Experience Finance Expertise: A strong background in accounting, finance, or a related field (CA/CPA qualification or equivalent experience is highly regarded). The "Can-Do" Factor: A willingness to balance high-level strategy with hands-on, day-to-day transactional accounting tasks. **Governance Knowledge: **Previous experience in not-for-profit governance or leadership, preferably at the board level, is a plus. Mission Alignment: A strong commitment to the mission and values of Yogahood Australia. Experience with yoga and mindfulness is welcome, but not required. **Communication Skills: **Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-finance board members and stakeholders.

Time Commitment & Compensation Time: A minimum two-year term. Monthly board meetings are held virtually, with additional flexible hours required for transactional finance management and committee activities. **Compensation: **This is a rewarding, voluntary position. While unpaid, it offers the opportunity to make a tangible, positive impact on community well-being.
