The Mackay Cart Crew is a dedicated team committed to bringing comfort and compassion to children undergoing treatment at Mackay Hospital, along with their families. Through regular rounds in the Children's and Adolescent Unit, we offer essential items and, most importantly, smiles!

Our Cart Crew distributes:

  • Snacks (biscuits, tuna and crackers, popcorn, muesli bars, shelf-ready microwave meals, etc.)

  • Boredom busters (activity/colouring books, toys, magazines, reading books)

  • Personal hygiene essentials

  • Soft toys for added comfort

In addition to running the Mackay Hospitality Cart, our volunteers help with restocking and collecting items to ensure smooth service to the Paediatric Ward. No clinical training is required—just a kind heart and a willingness to lend a friendly ear.

Join us in making a real difference in the lives of sick and injured children. Your time and support can brighten their day and ease their journey.

To become a volunteer, please complete the following:

  • Blue Card Check (Working With Children Check)

  • National Crime Check (NCC)

  • Induction and buddy shift

Together, we can spread kindness and support throughout Mackay Base Hospital and beyond!
