Bring joy to elderly residents in an aged care home and light up the room when you and your pet walk in?

Southern Cross Care are looking for volunteers with dogs/animals that are calm and quiet to visit elderly residents in our aged care facilities across Perth.

Dogs will be required to complete a behavioural assessment with a qualified trainer before being approved to commence volunteering. A Pet Therapy volunteer is currently sought after in Success location.

The assessment cost is $50 per dog (paid to the trainer) and will assess temperament, behaviour, and socialisation to see if the dog is suitable for visits into our residential aged care facilities. You will receive the report in the week following your assessment. In addition to the assessment, the session will allow you the opportunity to ask the trainer any behavioural, training, or other questions that you may have about your dog.

Key Tasks

Visit communal spaces and resident rooms to ensure that everyone gets to say hello to your pet before you go. Feel warm and fuzzy by bringing smiles to the faces of our residents.
