Volunteers on the library trolley wheel a trolley full of free magazines and books from ward to ward in the hospital, for patients to enjoy during their stay.
Maybe you are a book worm or literature lover, so are some of our patients. Some people like their phones and some need a break from the blue screen. Magazines and books help break up the monotony.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, backgrounds, languages, cultures, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are looking for students, CALD community members, immigrants, and refugees, as well as teenagers, undergraduates, and people of all abilities.

- You live in the local government area, please note we are prioritising applicants who live in our catchment.
- You’re always up for a new challenge, you’re willing to learn and be flexible.
- Integrity and open-mindedness are your guiding principles. You value confidentiality and treat everyone who comes to Western Health with dignity and respect.
- If you speak multiple languages, such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Dinka, Arabic, Greek or any other language, we want you on our team! However, basic English language, reading and writing skills are essential.
We ask that:
You’re an Australian Citizen or have permission to volunteer in Australia. We ask our volunteers to commit to 12+ months with either weekly or fortnightly shifts. Let’s find the schedule that suits you best.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are prioritising applications from people who live in the local government area.
