Whether you live here, are coming to visit or just love Geraldton, taking part in Geraldton's annual Sunshine Festival is a worthwhile and spectacular experience!
Sunshine Festival is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and will be held down at Geraldton's Maitland Park, on Sunday, 04th October 2026. There will be onstage entertainment starting from 10am, which will then pause for the Sunshine Festival Float Parade, starting at 3pm.
We need volunteers to help us out with different tasks on Sunday, 04th October 2026. You can opt to assist at ANY of the below time slots, whichever seems suitable for you.
"OPTION 1 - Set up (7 -10 am):"
- Putting up posters, banners or signages.
- Setting up chairs & tables or other installations.
- Assisting with set up of marquees.
- Assisting with registration entry when stallholders arrive & guiding them to their stalls.
- Assisting stall holders with the setup where necessary.
- Communicate with fellow volunteers and festival coordinator. Some standing and heavy lifting may be required, so you need to be physically fit.
"OPTION 2 Event assistance (10 am to 12.30 pm) OR (12.30 pm to 2.30 pm):"
- Assisting the event management team.
- Report any health and safety related issue.
- Assisting and communicating with stall holders where necessary.
- Communicate with fellow volunteers and festival coordinator.
- Follow instructions as directed.
"OPTION 3 - Float Parade assistance: (3pm - 4.30 pm):"
- Assisting event coordinator during the parade.
- Ensuring parade participants are in marked areas.
- Communicate with parade participants where instructions are provided.
- Guiding the parade participants where necessary.
- Be at designated locations on the parade route to ensure everything is going fine.
- Assisting with marking the parade area, if applicable.
- Communicate with fellow volunteers and festival coordinator.
"OPTION 4 - Pack up (4.30 - 6.30 pm):"
- Taking down posters, banners and signages
- Clearing chairs or tables
- Pack down of marquees or other stall installations.
- Communicate with fellow volunteers and festival coordinator. Some standing and heavy lifting may be required, so you need to be physically fit.
Volunteers would be required to sign in and sign out on the event register.
These event roles are great to be done along with friends, work colleagues, family or just as a way to meet new people.
You would need to have a Working with Children’s Check or willing to get one. If you are 18 and above, apply now and join us in putting up a great festival for the Midwest community.
