Volunteer Surf Therapy Mentor - Mornington Peninsula

🌊 About the Volunteer Surf Therapy Mentor Role: We have a general need for mentors to Join our team and collaborate with qualified surf therapists to bring our surf therapy programs to life! As a mentor, you'll be paired with a young person (aged 8-18) who may be facing mental health challenges, social isolation, or a disability. Your mission is to build trust, facilitate fun, offer support, and create a safe, inclusive space for growth both in and out of the waves over 6 sessions.

No surfing experience or qualifications are needed! If you can swim, feel good in the water, and are passionate about helping others, we want you!

🌊 Responsibilities While surfing is a core part of the programs, being a mentor is about building a connection with a young person and helping them feel supported. It also involves building positive relationships, creating a fun and supportive environment, and empowering young people to overcome challenges and grow their confidence.

🌊 Commitment: We value any amount of time you can contribute. Ideally, we ask for a minimum commitment of 6 sessions, each 3 hours long. If you can't commit to these times, don't worry! We always need mentors for occasional sessions, our Surf Clubs, and events.

Environment: Outdoors on the beach and in the water at Point Leo

🌊 Do you have a driver's licence and a reliable vehicle? We are currently in need of 2 volunteer drivers to help transport young people to and from our sessions - this is a really important role that makes a huge difference in ensuring every young person can access our programs!
