Beauty Therapist

Southern Adelaide Palliative Services (SAPS) is seeking a qualified and compassionate beauty therapist to join our Complementary Care volunteer team on an ad hoc basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide gentle beauty treatments that promote relaxation, dignity, and emotional wellbeing for patients and their families during a vulnerable time.

Beauty therapy in palliative care is not just about appearance—it’s about comfort, connection, and helping individuals feel cared for and valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide gentle beauty treatments such as hand and foot massage, nail care, skin care, or grooming, tailored to individual needs.
• Offer a calm and respectful presence, supporting emotional wellbeing through touch and conversation.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic environment in accordance with SAPS infection control protocols.
• Communicate effectively with the SAPS team regarding patient needs and session outcomes.
• Record volunteer hours and interactions on paperwork provided.
• Uphold confidentiality and respect the dignity of all patients and families

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in beauty therapy.
• Empathetic and respectful communication style.
• Ability to work independently and respond to requests on an ad hoc basis.
• Willingness to complete SAPS volunteer training.
• Compliance with SAPS onboarding requirements.

Program Details

• The Complementary Care Program operates Monday to Friday during business hours.
• A fully equipped therapy room is available, including supplies and equipment.
• All SAPS volunteers receive training and ongoing support.
