Become a volunteer with the Department for Child Protection. If you’re an understanding, caring, enthusiastic person with an interest in improving outcomes for children and young people we’d like to hear from you. As a volunteer your tasks may include, but not limited to driving a child to family visits, school or appointments, recreational activities.

Benefits may include helping your community by supporting vulnerable children. Developing career options and personal growth.

As a volunteer you will be provided with training and ongoing support. Reimbursed for mileage to and from DCP office. Government vehicles are used for the volunteer tasks and, as a volunteer, you are covered by the government volunteer’s insurance cover.

We appreciate any time you are able to give and will try and work around your availability. We do ask volunteers to be reliable and available for a reasonable amount of time which may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

A working With Children Check is required and your Volunteer Coordinator can assist if you have any questions about this process.

You are required to attend mandatory training session which include the following:

  • Child Safe Environments and the DCP Volunteer Induction.
  • You will also be asked to attend car restraint training with Kidsafe SA.
