Our sewing volunteers are required to work with, instruct, encourage, and support our community participants. Elements of the role include:
• Assessing the scope and nature of repairs or alterations required for individual garments. • Repairing and altering prioritised garments. • Supporting participants with little or no sewing experience by teaching basic sewing skills. • Assisting participants with their ongoing sewing projects, providing guidance and encouragement as needed. • Working collaboratively with the Activity Coordinator to facilitate group sewing projects for community events. • Helping foster a welcoming, inclusive, collaborative, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Our volunteers should have well-developed sewing skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of projects. They should also be confident supporting participants with a range of sewing experience, from beginners to experienced sewers.
