By dedicating 3 hours a week, you’ll play a vital role in crafting engaging lesson plans that will make a difference in the lives of our students. Your expertise will empower teachers and enrich the educational experience in East Timor. As a volunteer with BETTER, you will be a valuable resource for teachers in East Timor, providing support and guidance in curriculum development and classroom management.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience as a lower primary school teacher with expertise in lesson planning.
  • Familiarity with the balanced literacy approach and positive behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to consider differentiation and diverse learning needs.
  • Access to a computer and stable internet connection, with proficiency in virtual communication tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans across various subjects. Incorporate engaging activities, assessments, and resources that align with the learning objectives.
  • Interpret curriculum documents to ensure lessons meet educational needs of students in East Timor.
  • Share best practices for behavior management and positive behavior support in the classroom, fostering a conducive learning environment.
  • Include support for personalised/differentiated learning approaches to cater to the diverse learning needs of their students.

Time Commitment: We understand that availability varies, but we kindly request a commitment of about 1-3 hours per week, which can be scheduled at your convenience.
