Recreation & Leisure Advisory Committee Volunteers

Applications are now open to join Council’s Recreation and Leisure Committee (RLC), to guide Council on decisions relating to sport, recreation and leisure. Applicants are encouraged to apply from diverse backgrounds with interest and experience in recreational activities, community sports, sport and recreational infrastructure or local government involvement in sport.

Across the two-year period (commencing in March 2027) the Recreation and Leisure Committee will;

• Provide advice and input on Council’s leisure plans, policies, initiatives and programs, including the Sport & Leisure Awards (SLA) and Leisure Minor Capital Works Grants Scheme.

• Discuss participation opportunities, emerging issues, active recreation, leisure activities and public open space use.

• Participate in consultation, review and implementation activities relating to Council’s recreation, leisure and sport policies and initiatives.

• Attend Multi advisory committee as a representative of the Recreation & Leisure Committee, who help consult on cross council issues such as the Municipal Health & Wellbeing Plan with engagement from multiple advisory committees across Knox.

You will be required to attend 4 committee meetings per year, that typically run on a Wednesday night for 2-hours each.

We welcome people involved in sporting clubs and leisure groups, as well as informal users such as runners, walkers, cyclists, fitness groups and people who enjoy being active in Knox.

Where: Knox City Council, 511 Burwood Hwy Wantirna South How often: 2 hours on Wednesday nights; once a quarter (4 meetings per year)
