Logo for Sunraysia Toy Library

Servicing the Sunraysia community for nearly 40 years, the Sunraysia Toy Library provides a place and resources for children to learn through play. Children learn to coordinate their bodies, express themselves and develop their minds and body. Good imaginative play is the basis for academic success, according to the latest research. Most importantly children use toys to have fun

As a volunteer at the Sunraysia Toy Library, duties will include:

  • Borrowing and returning toys for members during opening hours
  • Counting toys and associated pieces/parts
  • Organising toys on shelving and light housekeeping duties during shifts
  • Ad Hoc workshops are also held regularly throughout the year to label new toys and complete stocktake
  • Assisting members with general enquiries during opening hours, and assisting new members to join as required.

No special skills or experience are required - just a willingness to learn!

Sunraysia Toy Library currently has two campuses where you can volunteer:

  1. Mildura Campus, located at Mansell Reserve. Open on Tuesdays and Saturdays 9.30am - 11.30am
  2. Red Cliffs Campus, located at the Red Cliffs Civic Hall. Open on Fridays and Sundays 9.30am - 11.00am Both campuses are closed on public holidays.

The Sunraysia Toy Library is a child safe organisation, with policies and procedures in place.

Volunteering at the Sunraysia Toy Library is a great opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in early childhood development and education; or anyone interested in a relaxed and friendly volunteer role. We also encourage people in the community to join as a paid member with a volunteer role to see and participate in the full benefits of a toy library.

Toy Libraries across the country are gaining popularity and recognition for being vital resources for families to encourage play based learning, as well as being a place to develop community connection.
