Meals on Wheels - Runners
Advertised by Rockingham Volunteer Centre
Meals on Wheels runners work alongside a driver to deliver meals to customers’ homes in our refrigerated vans. A key aspect of the role is to provide a welfare check, therefore we do not leave meals at the door, they must be handed to the recipient or family member. A welfare check involves a check in and a brief chat with the customer. Any concerns must be reported back to the Chorus meals office immediately. Staff will then follow up with the customer or their family. Chorus adhere to strict food safety regulations and volunteers must ensure that food stays at temperature by monitoring this throughout the run and keeping a record. Many customers receive multiple meals as well as soup and dessert. Volunteers must be comfortable in reading the run sheets and ensuring that the customer receives the correct meals.
