Community Friend Volunteer - Music social group Co-facilitator!

The MCM Community Friend Program (CFP) is recruiting another Volunteer to support a Music Group in Melbourne’s North (Coburg North). CFP supports adult participants (18-60 years old), who are living with a mild disability or mental health experience. The music group fortnightly sessions are held at a music studio in Coburg North.
Your role Supporting the Lead Volunteer in contacting participants and confirming their attendance to the group sessions, along with providing the CFP Coordinator with feedback directly after the sessions. Supporting the group each session to set up music equipment and pack down at the close of each session.
Expected availability - fortnightly Wednesday 2:30pm - 5:30pm.
The music group will have around 6 participants living with a mild to moderate disability and/or mental health issue. This includes physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory disability, acquired brain injury, and mental health (psychosocial).

This role requires 2-3 hours per fortnight *minimum * and a **12 month ***minimum *commitment.
A studio space is available for use, located in Coburg North.
Music instruments and equipment will be supplied for use in the group. Instruments include, guitars, keyboards, microphones, drum kit, Tabla drums etc.
Music sessions run twice a month on a Wednesday, 3pm - 5pm. There are opportunities to record a CD and perform live.
We do not specifically require musicians to volunteer with the group. If you love being around music and encouraging others to get involved during the sessions – this is the role for you..!
We do not require specific qualifications. The qualities we look for in volunteers are:
- A commitment to the Community Friend Program and the participants (of at least 12 months)
- Maturity and reliability
- Effective communications and social skills
- The ability to be a good role model
- The ability to focus on the needs of others
- The ability to seek advice as appropriate
- An understanding of the importance of social connections and friendship
Once you have contacted CFP to express your interest and had a chat over the phone, an application will be sent to complete and return. We can meet online or in person for an induction/interview to get to know a little more about you and chat more about the program, and volunteers will apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Volunteers must be 18 years or over, undergo a NDIS Worker Screener Check, undergo an international police check if you have lived outside Australia for more than one year in the last 10 years, provide 2 professional referees and provide a weekly commitment for a minimum of 12 months.
