Humane Animal Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue dedicated to treating animals humanely. They rescue dogs and cats from pounds across Victoria and NSW and places them into foster care, where they are prepared for their forever homes. Humane Animal Rescue is 100% volunteer-run, relying on the dedication of volunteers, and operates with compassion, kindness, and a focus on clear communication and collective support.

Position description:

As a Volunteer Transporter, you play a crucial role in our rescue efforts by ensuring that animals reach their destinations safely on their journey to find forever homes. Your reliable driving and attentive care help make a significant difference in the lives of these animals.

Key tasks include:

• Transporting animals between pounds, vet appointments, and foster carers’ homes
• Ensuring the safety and comfort of animals during transit
• Coordinating with rescue team members and foster carers regarding pick-up and drop-off schedules
• Adhering to all safety and animal care guidelines during transportation
• Reporting any issues or concerns encountered during transit to the relevant team member

NOTE: All volunteers must have a Facebook account and Facebook Messenger as it is a main way to communicate

Across Melbourne

Skills Required:

• Valid driver’s licence

Time Required:

• Flexible – the hours are up to you!

Commitment Required:

• Must be willing to transport animals to and from vet appointments and foster carers’ houses across the Melbourne region.
• There are also opportunities to pick up large donations from around Melbourne. Other Requirements:
• You must have access to a car with a back seat that is suitable for safely transporting animals.
