Kowanj Australasia Limited is a registered charity and community-led organisation established in response to the emerging social, educational, and employment needs of African refugees & new and emerging communities in Australia.

We utilise our cultural expertise to address the social & unemployment problems faced by refugees and migrants. By working exclusively with communities, training organisations, and local businesses to increase economic participation we create long-term employment outcomes, reduce poverty, and help people re-integrate and progress effectively to become independent and empowered.

Position description

The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer) will play a key role in developing and implementing marketing strategies to increase Kowanj’s visibility, engagement, and outreach. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about social impact, digital marketing, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing & Content Development – Create and implement marketing strategies to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Social Media Management – Manage social media accounts and create engaging content to grow online presence.
  • Community Engagement & Public Relations – Build relationships with the community and promote Kowanj’s initiatives.
  • Event Promotion & Support – Assist in marketing and outreach for events through digital and print materials.
  • Analytics & Strategy Improvement – Track marketing performance and refine strategies for better engagement.

Location: 552 Victoria St, North Melbourne

Skills required

  • Experience & Knowledge – Background in marketing, communications, or digital media.
  • Creative & Communication Skills – Ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
  • Organisational & Analytical Skills – Manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Passion for Social Impact & Digital Engagement – Commitment to community empowerment.

Time required: Minimum 1-2 days per week

Commitment required: Minimum 3 months, ongoing
