Life Stories Volunteer

Tasks include: Development and Production • Initiates contact with patient to arrange voice recording sessions • Meets with patient; listens and records verbal stories and reflections • Transcribes voice recordings • Proof reads and edits story drafts • Reads story to patients and notes adjustments or deletions • Liaises with their Mentor/Volunteer Services to provide timely information, updates and reports (as per procedures) • Works with their Mentor/Volunteer Services to solve problems and answer questions • Discusses story progress with Mentor/Volunteer Services during production and fully debriefs at end • Provides formal feedback to Mentor/Volunteer Services during evaluation process (where relevant) • Presents final story as Word document including photos and graphics where appropriate • Delivers completed story to patient and family Reporting and Recording • Records details of the story by accurately completing and maintaining all relevant documentation. • Maintains regular contact with their Mentor/Volunteer Services to discuss progress and report issues and concerns • Advises relevant stakeholders when story is complete • Reports patient medical emergencies to relevant stakeholder Collaboration, Training and Self Development • Shares ideas and offers program improvement suggestions • Supports and implements program changes and improvements • Regularly attends training and group meetings
