Can you make a difference to a Greek-speaking resident?

Brighten someone’s day and make a meaningful difference to their wellbeing through our Coffee & Chat Program. These friendly one-on-one visits help residents feel connected, valued and supported.

We’re looking for warm, compassionate Greek-speaking volunteers to spend time with our wonderful Greek residents – sharing conversation, stories, culture and connection in a language that feels like home.

If you’re a St Vincent’s kind of person who cares deeply about others and has a little time to share, we’d love to hear from you. Your conversation could brighten someone’s entire week.

What You’ll Do:

• Enjoy a chat over a cup of coffee
• Spend time in the gardens
• Read in Greek
• Listen to and share life stories
• Play cards, or work on puzzles
• Listen to their favourite music

Why Volunteer? Many elderly Australians in aged care homes face loneliness and social isolation. By volunteering just one hour a fortnight, you can make a significant difference in their lives. You'll be matched one-on-one with a resident who could greatly benefit from your friendship. Studies show that loneliness can be as detrimental to health as smoking, and sadly, over 40% of people in aged care lack regular visitors. Your presence can help bridge this gap.

Program Details:

• Dedication: Our special volunteers are people who would like to visit their new friend about 20 times or more over a twelve-month period (about one visit every two to three weeks).
• Requirements: Must be over 18 years old, complete a NDIS clearance (we will guide you through that process and it is free for volunteers) and be available to visit consistently.

Ideal Volunteers:

• Speak Greek (preferred for specific residents)
• Exhibit care and compassion for the elderly
• Have good communication skills
• Are committed and punctual
