About the Program

The Kitchen Support volunteer will support the Healthy Eating Facilitator in preparing nutritious hot meals for the community. The tasks involved include meal preparation, serving, washing dishes, pots, and utensils, operating an industrial dishwasher, and ensuring clean work areas.

Key Tasks:

  • Food preparation and appropriate food storage
  • Rotation of stock
  • Handle, sort and distribute food items
  • Cleaning duties as required
  • Report all incidents, hazards, near misses and accidents as soon as reasonably practicable.

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:

  • Experience in kitchen duties
  • Excellent hygiene practices
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage time
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to relate to a diverse range of people.

Time Commitment

Shifts are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hours are typically 9:00 am to 2:00 pm but may be flexible if suitable. Days are agreed upon beforehand and depend on the supported program.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess and provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance (Aged Care Sector) prior to offer. (This can be organised for you)
