Harvest Leaders are essential volunteers who coordinate and manage fruit harvesting events across Adelaide and surrounding regions. As a Harvest Leader, you'll be the point person for organising and executing safe, efficient harvests that benefit our community while preventing food waste.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Harvest Coordination
- Contact tree owners to assess fruit readiness and arrange harvest details
- Create and schedule harvest events in our online system
- Organise necessary equipment and supplies
Harvest Day Management
- Arrive early to set up and welcome volunteers
- Conduct safety briefings and assign roles to volunteers
- Oversee the harvest process, ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Photograph the harvest (with permission) for documentation and promotion
- Weigh and record all harvested produce
- Coordinate equitable distribution of fruit between owners, volunteers, and food relief organisations
Post-Harvest Tasks
- Ensure harvested produce reaches designated food relief organisations
- Return and maintain equipment in good condition
- Document harvest results and volunteer participation in our system
- Follow up with tree owners and volunteers as needed
Required Qualifications
- Reliable communication skills
- Basic organisational abilities
- Commitment to food rescue and community service
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in gardening or fruit harvesting
- Access to a vehicle for transporting equipment and produce
- Enthusiasm for community engagement and sustainable food practices
