Emergency Relief Volunteer

Emergency Relief Volunteers represent the face of MarionLIFE and are the initial point of contact for individuals in the community seeking support. This position is part of a dedicated volunteer team, operating under the guidance of the Emergency Relief Coordinator.
As an Emergency Relief Volunteer you will conduct interviews - assessing client needs, provide appropriate referral pathways and document data (as required by our funding providers).

- The ability to record information accurately, please note that the use of a computer will be required
- A willingness to learn and familiarise yourself with local organisations and services that are our referral points

- A commitment to social justice principles, and willingness to embrace the mission and aims of MarionLIFE Community Services Inc
Your responsibilities:
- To work with other volunteers and paid staff
- To ensure a safe working environment
- Adherence to MarionLIFE policies and procedures
- Attendance at volunteer meetings and training as required
- DHS Working with Children (free and obtainable with MarionLIFE support)
Qualities you possess:
- Enthusiasm and empathy with your approach to the work
- The ability to relate, with sensitivity to a wide range of people
- The ability to work alone and as part of a team
- The ability to maintain confidentiality according to our MarionLIFE policies
- Some understanding and sensitivity to the impacts of social issues facing people experiencing food insecurity- and a willingness to learn more as you go
- A willingness to work towards the goals of Marion Life Community Services Inc.
- Good communication & interpersonal skills
- The ability to respect values that may differ from your own
- The capacity to be reliable, punctual, and flexible
