Community Garden Volunteer - Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House

Organisation description:

Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is a community-managed Neighbourhood House and Eco-Living Centre providing a diverse range of programs, workshops, activities and events to the communities of Albion, Ardeer and broader Brimbank area. KCNH offers a space for all community members to connect and participate.

Position description:

Albion Community Garden has a mix of annual and perennial growing spaces and grows food that is distributed to people needing support through our community pantry program.

Social gardening sessions happen on every Monday and Tuesday, 10.30am to 12.30pm; gardening at other times is welcome following a volunteer and garden induction.

Tasks include: weeding, mulching, planting, fertilizing, harvesting, composting, propagation and pest management.

Skills required:

• Skills and Qualities Required:

We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly, reliable and interested in growing food, environmental sustainability and helping others. Experienced and non-experienced gardeners with an interest in learning and working together welcome.

• Essential Skills & Attributes:

• Warm and friendly attitude

You enjoy connecting with others and meeting new people.

• Willingness to assist with garden tasks and get your hands dirty

Your happy to help with seasonal tasks including weeding, mulching, planting, fertilizing, harvesting, composting, propagation and pest management.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

You can listen well, speak clearly, and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

• Physical Requirements

You are able to dig, lift and carry small loads; gardening is great exercise!

Commitment required:

Minimum 6 months - Ongoing
