Love to chat? Let’s talk!

We’re looking for more friendly faces to help welcome travellers at Emerald's Central Queensland Highlands Visitor Information Centre (CQH VIC).

As a volunteer tourism ambassador, you'll be the first point of contact for the public – assisting with enquiries, offering recommendations, and providing information on attractions, activities and accommodation. The role also involves some light admin tasks.

  • Play a valuable role in promoting our region
  • Meet people from across Australia and the world
  • Be part of a friendly team
  • Choose the days and hours that suit you (minimum 4 hours per week)
  • Training provided, including annual familiarisation tours, and uniform shirt supplied.

This is a volunteer role only however volunteers are invited to apply for casual and part time (paid) positions at the VIC when the opportunity arises.

**About us: **

The CQH VIC is open daily and provides advice, bookings, itineraries, brochures and WiFi free of charge to the public. It also sells maps, souvenirs and light refreshments.

The centre, located in a shady spot at Emerald’s popular Morton Park, is an attraction itself because of its strawbale walls and sculpture made from recycled farm equipment.

Opening hours are extended during the tourism season (Easter to October). The VIC is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday; open half-days on Anzac Day.

The VIC is managed by the not-for-profit Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) and is accredited with Tourism and Events Queensland for achieving certain quality standards.
