Community BBQ and/or Gardening Volunteer

Support the delivery of a growing weekly community BBQ with a team of volunteers that provides connection, access to services and builds community relationships.
Setting up the area with chairs, tables, drink station, tea and coffee.
Welcoming, engaging and connecting with people.
General food preparation of bread rolls, condiments etc
Cook BBQ, sausages, onions following required guidelines to ensure equitable access to community members (halal, vegetarian, vegan etc)
Post event clean up, put away tables, chairs, cleaning BBQ and area.
Additional opportunities to also get involved with general garden maintenance to the community garden and general garden areas including watering, weeding, mulching, planting, pruning and fertilising.
Wattle House delivers a range of integrated services that supports needs of the community including Emergency Relief, Family Support and Accommodation Service, Housing Support, Communities of Focus and a Community Chaplaincy Program.
You will need:
- Interest in connecting, talking to and engaging people
- Ability to follow WHS procedures including safe handling, manual handling etc
- For gardening general interest and basic gardening knowledge
- Ability to support Mission Australia purpose and values
- Ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures including WHS protocols
