Smile Squad - Family Room Townsville University Hospital

Purpose of the Role: The Smile Squad Volunteers play a key role in being the comfortable and cheerful refuge for families with sick or injured children in the Hospital. This role involves greeting families in a kind and respectful manner, assisting families with food and drink service or using the washing machines and dryer, keeping the family room tidy and presentable and checking stock requirements in the room.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet families warmly and explain available services
• Assist families with food, drinks, laundry, and general support
• Keep the family room clean and welcoming
• Prepare and freeze ham and cheese toasties
• Check stock levels and report needs to Ronald McDonald House
• Report any safety, maintenance, or security concerns immediately
• Represent Ronald McDonald House North Australia positively; be respectful and courteous at all times

Requirements:
• Hold or be willing to obtain a valid Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Able to pass a National Police Check
• Successful completion of the Safeguarding Children course online
• Minimum age: 16 years
Training Provided:
• Induction to the organisation and Program
• Ongoing support from the HR Coordinator and Operations Support Officer
• Equipment usage instructions
