HRC - Health Museum Volunteer

Whether you enjoy researching, writing, organising, photographing or getting hands-on with historic objects, there is something here for you. You will help care for a fascinating collection of around 30,000 items that tell the story of health care in South Australia from the 1840s to today. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new skills, and contribute to something meaningful.

Potential volunteer tasks:

• Assist with cataloguing, particularly data entry of information
• Support digital projects by scanning and photographing historical records and objects
• Help develop exhibitions, from research through to installation
• Assist with our oral history project through interviewing, recording and transcription
• Research people, places and objects to uncover the stories behind the collection
• Catalogue and document items using both excel spreadsheets and the museum database (eHive)
• Photograph or scan objects, documents and records for digital storage
• Assist in researching and preparing museum displays and exhibitions
• Help conduct, record and/or transcribe oral history interviews
• Assist with research into the history of objects, people and places
• Assist with storage and conservation of items

Special requirements:

• Have the physical ability to undertake the duties in a safe manner.
• Complete a clear National Police Clearance certificate.
• Comply with Work Health & Safety and Infection Control requirements.
• Comply with all mandatory vaccination requirements.
• Complete all annual mandatory training requirements.
