Op Shop Volunteer
Your duties will be varied and engaging. While full training is provided for all tasks, key responsibilities include:
• Customer Service Excellence:
o Greeting and assisting all customers in a friendly, respectful, and helpful manner.
o Answering customer enquiries about stock, pricing, and the mission of our charity.
o Building a positive rapport with our regular shoppers and the local community.
• Point of Sale (POS) Operations:
o Processing customer sales accurately using our cash register and EFTPOS terminal.
o Handling cash and card transactions responsibly.
o Assisting with opening and closing procedures for the register.
• Donation Processing & Stock Management:
o Accepting and acknowledging donations from the public with gratitude.
o Sorting through incoming donations of clothing, homewares, books, and bric-a-brac to identify quality items for sale.
o Preparing stock for the shop floor, including steaming garments, cleaning items, and applying price tags.
• Visual Merchandising & Store Presentation:
o Assisting in creating attractive and engaging displays on the shop floor and in the windows.
o Restocking shelves and clothing racks to ensure the store looks fresh and full.
o Maintaining the general cleanliness and tidiness of the shop floor, change rooms, and sorting area to ensure a pleasant and safe environment for everyone.
• Teamwork & Communication:
o Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with the Store Manager and fellow volunteers.
o Adhering to all workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines to ensure a safe environment for yourself, your team, and customers.
