Job description:

BaptistCare is seeking safe and reliable volunteers to assist with transporting residents of Westhaven Aged Care Community in Footscray. Volunteers will support outings and local trips, playing a key role in helping residents stay connected to the community and enjoy greater independence.

Tasks may include:

• Driving residents on outings, community events, shopping trips
• Offering friendly conversation during journeys
• Supporting staff in coordinating safe travel
• Volunteers are not expected to provide personal care or lift wheelchairs.

Full training and support will be provided.

Skills required:

• Full Victorian driver’s licence
• Safe driving record and good road knowledge
• Friendly and patient communication style
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Time required:

• Tuesdays between 10am and 12noon for a weekly outing to Williamstown Beach and Central West Shopping Centre (alternating weeks)
• Weekly, fortnightly (max 3-hour shifts)

Commitment required: Regular – minimum of 3 to 6 months preferred

Other requirements:

• National Police Check (covered by BaptistCare)
• Two referees
• Valid driver’s licence

This role could be made suitable for volunteers with Centrelink requirement of 15 hours/fortnight.
