Seeking a warm, welcoming and nurturing volunteer for Occasional Care
Advertised by Volunteer for KnoxPosition Purpose: The Volunteer in the Occasional Care Team Member role supports the daily operation of a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children attending the Occasional Care program. The volunteer works alongside staff to assist in supervision, engagement, and care of the children, contributing to a positive and nurturing experience for all.
Key Responsibilities: · Provide a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children and families. · Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for children. · Help set up the room each morning (e.g., remove chairs from tables, raise blinds). · Greet children as they arrive and assist with settling in (e.g., comforting babies or engaging them in activities). · Engage with children during play and learning experiences. · Support children in art and craft activities. · Encourage and assist children in packing away toys and materials. · Help prepare and serve morning tea and lunch. · Support children with eating, drinking, and handwashing as needed. · Clean tables and sweep floors after snacks and meals. · Join in group activities such as story time and singing. · Assist with general supervision of children, both inside and outside. · Support children in outdoor areas, including sandpits and play equipment. · Assist with end-of-session pack-up, including putting chairs on tables and lowering blinds on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday if time permits. · Promptly report any concerns about a child’s wellbeing, behaviour, or safety to the Occasional Care Team Leader and/or Manager.
