Haemodialysis Social Visitor

As a valued volunteer, your tasks may include:

Offering one-on-one social support – brighten a patient’s day with friendly conversation and companionship.

Serving refreshments – offer tea, coffee, or a cold drink to help patients feel comfortable and cared for.

Engaging in activities – connect through jigsaws, colouring (online), reading aloud, chatting about the news, daily quizzes, or exploring the online library (books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks).

Supporting mealtime – help position food and drinks within easy reach, unwrap packages, and ensure utensils are accessible.

Providing entertainment and distraction – share magazines, play card or board games, do crosswords, colouring, or host a fun group trivia quiz or bingo.

Helping with small comforts – clean glasses, offer extra blankets or pillows to enhance comfort.

Assisting with technology – help patients use iPads (if available), connect to WiFi, and access the BorrowBox online library.

Respecting privacy – always maintain confidentiality regarding any personal or sensitive information shared by patients or staff.
