CHAMPION food Services assistant required!

Qualification / Skills Required

• An ability to interact in a calm, courteous and respectful manner to all staff, volunteers and visitors to CHAMPION • Provide excellent customer service to all our visitors. Develop and maintain positive relations with visitors, whilst respecting the boundaries of the role • An ability to abide by the systems in place as they pertain to the distribution of food to visitors. This includes tactfully and politely saying “no” to visitors when necessary • An ability to work in a team and take instruction from the CHAMPION Manager and Coordinator • A strong interest in being a member of the CHAMPION team and work in line with our culture and values of Trust, Acceptance and Respect • An ability to drive the TSA van (full driver’s license required) to collect donations is helpful but not essential

Key Responsibilities

• Assist visitors to select fresh fruit & vegetables, bread, pantry items and toiletries as well as frozen and refrigerated foods when available • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer requirements and queries • Refer visitors on to Coordinator or Manager if they are distressed or have any concerns or questions • Assist with unpacking of deliveries into the pantry or into designated storage areas as needed.
• Check use-by dates of food stock and rotate when needed • Maintain a clean and safe environment including general cleaning and sanitising of shelves, benches and floors • Wear disposable gloves when handling food • Work in a team of approximately 5 volunteers
