Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50 plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness. Position description:
Wintringham is seeking a caring and reliable female volunteer to support Barbra, a resident of Gilgunya Hostel in Coburg, who is socially isolated due to a hearing impairment. Barbra enjoys attending a Friday craft group at the John Pierce Centre in Prahran, and we are looking for a volunteer to escort her to and from the activity by taxi.
Responsibilities:
- Escort Barbra safely in a taxi from Coburg to Prahran and back.
- Provide companionship during travel and support her participation in the craft group.
- Be a consistent and supportive presence each Friday.
Skills & Qualities:
- Female volunteer preferred.
- Friendly, patient, reliable, and supportive.
- Comfortable engaging with people experiencing hearing impairment.
Location & Time Commitment:
- Pick up from Gilgunya Hostel, 33 Harding Street, Coburg.
- Escort to John Pierce Centre, Prahran by taxi.
- Fridays, weekly (approximately 4 hours including travel).
