John Wesley Gardens - Knit & Natter Volunteer in Aged Care, Geebung

This is a relaxed, social space where creativity meets conversation. We are seeking a volunteer to help lead our weekly Knit and Natter group supporting residents as they enjoy knitting, crocheting, and friendly conversation each Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm.
These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!
A Knit and Natter volunteer can help residents by:
- Welcoming residents and creating a friendly atmosphere.
- Engaging and connecting with residents.
- Assisting residents with knitting or crocheting techniques.
- Supporting the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator with general duties.
- Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.
This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.
Volunteering hours available for this role are Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm.
This program is located within the John Wesley Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.
Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
