Food Relief Volunteers

Power Neighbourhood House

Advertised by South East Volunteers

Join our friendly team and help nourish the community. At Power Neighbourhood House, we believe food is more than just groceries, it’s connection, dignity, and support. We’re looking for volunteers to join our food relief program, helping ensure individuals and families in our community have access to the essentials they need. Some things you could do • Food pick-up & delivery: Collect fresh and packaged food from Foodbank in Dandenong, load it into your vehicle, and help unload it back at Power NH the same day. • Stocking & sorting: Restock grocery shelves, fridges, and produce areas; tidy and rotate stock; unpack deliveries; and repackage bulk items into household portions. • Welcoming clients: Be the first friendly face clients see. Support them with their groceries, answer questions, and lend a hand carrying bags when needed. • Preparation room tasks: Sort fruit and veg, package bakery items, and keep the space clean and safe. • General duties: Light cleaning, sweeping, wiping surfaces, and ensuring everything complies with health and safety standards. • Time commitment: This volunteer opportunity is available on Mondays and/or Tuesdays, when our food relief program runs (including Monday, 1pm Foodbank pickup)

This is a hands-on role where you’ll make a visible difference every day.

What we’re looking for • A warm and welcoming attitude with people from all walks of life • Willingness to pitch in with physical tasks (lifting, sorting, carrying) • Reliability and commitment to our community values • We ask volunteers to commit to helping on to commit to a regular attendance; weekly/fortnightly if possible, but monthly at a minimum. • Chinese language skills would be an advantage, but absolutely not essential, as many of our community members speak Mandarin or Cantonese
