Palliative Care Volunteer

Volunteer roles can take place either in the hospital or out in the community, depending on what feels right for you.

• Community visits – Offer companionship and connection through regular visits with clients.
• Biographers – Capture and preserve life stories by visiting clients at home or in hospital.
• Hospital support – Spend time with patients on the palliative care ward, share conversation, or brighten their day by offering items from the activity trolley such as books, sensory items, or keepsakes.
• Reminiscence groups – Support memory-sharing and storytelling activities that bring joy and comfort.
• Bereavement support – Walk alongside those who are grieving by joining supportive walking groups.
• Mercy Place visits – Visit residents at Mercy Place next door to provide companionship and connection.
