About the Role

As a Birralee Blooms volunteer, you’ll help residents enjoy all things gardening — from potting and planting to creating colourful displays and seasonal decorations. No green thumb needed — just a warm heart and a willingness to connect.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting residents with gentle, hands-on gardening (planting, watering, weeding, composting)
  • Getting creative with garden projects like painting pots or making signs
  • Joining in on friendly garden gatherings with residents, families, and staff
  • Encouraging residents to share their ideas, memories, and creativity

What We’re Looking For

  • A friendly, patient nature and genuine interest in engaging with older residents
  • A love of gardens, nature, or creativity (no experience needed)
  • Reliability to attend fortnightly sessions

What You’ll Gain

  • The joy of brightening residents’ days through shared activity
  • A sense of purpose and belonging in a caring, supportive team
  • The simple satisfaction of watching both gardens — and friendships — grow

When: Fortnightly sessions (flexible times)
