About Parent Thread

Parent Thread is a Geelong-based not-for-profit dedicated to creating meaningful spaces of connection for parents. Through programs such as Bloom and Connect, Blokes and Braids, coffee catch-ups and community events, we help parents build relationships, find support and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

We're looking for a creative volunteer who can help bring these stories to life online.

The Role

We're seeking a Social Media Content Creator with experience creating engaging reels, stories and social media graphics. We already have support with strategy and planning, so we're looking for someone who enjoys the creative side of social media and knows how to turn photos and video footage into content people actually want to watch.

We'll provide footage, photos, event information and brand assets. You'll create polished, engaging content that reflects the warmth, authenticity and community spirit of Parent Thread.

This role is flexible and can be completed remotely.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Editing short-form video content for Instagram Reels and Facebook.
  • Creating social media graphics, tiles and carousels using Canva or similar tools.
  • Adding captions, text overlays, music and transitions to improve engagement and accessibility.
  • Creating content that aligns with Parent Thread's brand and visual style.
  • Turning event footage, photos and stories into engaging content that helps grow our community.
  • Contributing creative ideas for content when inspiration strikes.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience creating social media content for Instagram and/or Facebook.
  • Confidence editing reels and short-form video content.
  • Strong Canva or graphic design skills.
  • An understanding of what makes engaging social media content.
  • Ability to create content that feels warm, genuine and community-focused.
  • Reliable communication and ability to work independently.

This role would suit a content creator, social media manager, designer or marketing professional looking to use their skills for a good cause.

Location is flexible and you do not need to be local.

What You'll Gain

  • Opportunities to build your portfolio with meaningful, purpose-driven content.
  • Creative freedom within an established and growing community organisation.
  • Recognition as part of the Parent Thread volunteer team.
  • Flexible volunteering that can fit around work or study.
  • The opportunity to help reduce loneliness and strengthen connection for local parents and families.
