Bushcare Volunteer - Mort Bay Park Birchgrove (Thursdays) - # 234091

Inner West Council

Advertised by The Centre for Volunteering

Mort Bay Park is home to a thriving bushland, reflecting the native plant communities and abundant wildlife that once would have occurred naturally. Bushcare volunteers have the opportunity to learn about and experience pockets of coastal rainforest and vibrant sandstone heath - all while appreciating breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour.

Volunteers will help maintain this corridor of bushland, focusing on weed control, mulching and planting new native trees, shrubs and groundcovers.

Bushcare at Mort Bay runs on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Tool belts, training and morning tea is provided, and you will work under the guidance of a qualified bush regenerator.

Benefits:

*Bushcare is a fantastic opportunity to learn about your local flora and fauna. You will develop your plant ID skills, learn about conservation and land management and help mitigate the largest threats to biodiversity in an urban setting.

*You will be working outside with like-minded people, making friends while giving back to the community.

*Morning tea is provided every session.
