Seeking Hungarian Speaking Friendly lady for visits to older residents

MiCare

Advertised by Volunteer for Knox

Share your friendship, language and companionship during weekly/fortnightly friendly visits to older Hungarian speaking ladies living in Residential Aged Care. A volunteer who speaks Hungarian and English would be perfect for this role. Visits may be spent talking or sharing in a simple leisure activity together. Your regular visits can make a real and positive difference in the lives of these residents - reducing isolation and improving well-being.

We ask volunteers to commit to weekly/fortnightly visits for at least 6 months, however this is an ongoing role & we hope to support your friendship for as long as possible. Volunteers receive training, orientation, ongoing support and travel reimbursement (part).

Volunteer Duties include:

Minimise the social isolation experienced by an older person through the provision of companionship and support on a regular basis through weekly/fortnightly visits.

• Act as a link between the older resident and their respective community.

• Encourage the independence and self-esteem of the recipient.

• Increase the recipient’s participation in activities and facilitate interaction within the aged care facility or community when appropriate.

If you feel that you would like to make a difference then we can't wait to hear from you.
