Parent Place Volunteer

At Parent Place, everyone is welcome. Parent Place helps families with young children to thrive, providing play-based learning, social and community connection and helpful information in an inclusive and safe space. Families at Parent Place can enjoy daily activities and a fun range of toys and activities to support their child’s learning and development, as well as welcoming spaces to feed, change, relax and connect with other parents.
At Parent Place, families are supported to find information and be assisted to connect with a wide range of Ballarat services for families and children.
Parent Place is located at 39 Sturt Street Ballarat, and at Outreach locations and is staffed by volunteers and the Parent Place Facilitators. Family, Youth and Children’s Services staff, including Early Years Partnerships and Children’s Services, also work in the offices at Sturt Street.
Actively engage with members of the public attending Parent Place in a positive, helpful and non-judgemental manner. Greet visitors to Parent Place upon entry, letting them know which services and/or activities are available and supporting them to find everything they need. Document attendance for visitors to the facility. Provide information about activities and services in Parent Place and other City of Ballarat early years services with support from City of Ballarat staff members. Clean resources, furniture and equipment and encourage all visitors, including children, to put toys and equipment away. Seek the assistance of the Parent Place Facilitator or another City of Ballarat staff member if necessary. Assist in the day to day running of the Parent Place program. Assist in the delivery of play-based learning and scheduled activities for families and children visiting Parent Place.
