As a School Program Presenter, you will deliver fun, engaging, child-centred educational sessions to junior primary and senior primary school students across SA. (Eventually we plan to extend sessions into secondary schools and even tertiary). Sessions are hands-on, curriculum-linked, and well resourced.

This role focuses on classroom delivery rather than program development and is ideal for someone who loves working with children, feels confident presenting, and has a strong commitment to wildlife welfare and community education.

This is a shared-casual roster position – you will be one of several presenters who cover bookings throughout the school year. Bookings are generally on weekdays during school terms and school hours, with occasional holiday program sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery:

  • Deliver interactive wildlife education sessions to students in Reception – Year 3 and Years 4 – 6.
  • Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and respect for wildlife.
  • Communicate key messages around wildlife rescue, safety, empathy, and responsible behaviour around native animals.

Logistics & Communication:

  • Liaise with school contacts before and after sessions regarding requirements, setup, and follow-up resources.
  • Safely transport program materials and presentation equipment to and from school locations.
  • Arrive prepared, punctual, and professionally presented for all sessions.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in ongoing training, mentoring and feedback sessions with the SOWFI Education Program team.
  • Represent SOWFI professionally and positively when engaging with students, teachers, and school communities.

Essential Criteria:

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience running child-centred educational or interactive sessions (e.g., teaching, environmental education, zoo education, kids’ holiday programs, scouting/guides, drama/performing with children, etc.)
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (an arrangement will be made regarding fuel costs)
  • Ability (and willingness) to obtain a valid Working with Children Check (we will process this for free for successful applicants if you don’t hold one)
  • Highly reliable, punctual, and organised
  • Genuine passion for native Australian wildlife and a solid understanding of rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation issues
  • Comfortable and confident speaking in front of groups of children and adults
  • Availability on weekdays throughout the school terms in 2026 (you choose the days/weeks you are available; we roster around everyone’s availability)

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing mentoring from experienced presenters and educators
  • The joy of watching children fall in love with native wildlife
  • Flexible roster that works around your other commitments
  • Transition to paid work once the program is established
  • Being part of a passionate, supportive team that directly helps native animals

If you are responsible, love children and native animals, and want to inspire hundreds of kids to care about our unique wildlife, we would love to hear from you!
