About the Grad Girls Tech Program

The Grad Girls Tech program is a flagship initiative with not-for-profit organisation, Women 4 STEM, designed to support women and gender diverse tertiary students and recent graduates as they transition into tech careers through mentorship, facilitated workshops, industry connection, and real-world exposure.

Role Overview

The Student Engagement Support ensures students are informed, supported, and engaged throughout the Grad Girls Tech Program. You’ll be supporting the Student Engagement Coordinator, and will work with other Support volunteers to communicate with students via a shared email inbox, and a dedicated Discord server, help students prepare for events, answer FAQs, see feedback and ensure they know what to expect.

You’ll play a hands-on role in maximising registrations and attendance, coordinating communications with the Ticketing Lead and Events Coordinators (Main, Partner and Virtual), and supporting the Data Analysts to capture student feedback after events. This role is key to ensuring participants feel connected, confident, and able to get the most out of the program.

Note: This role requires approximately 6 hours per week, spread across the week (30-60 minutes per day, rather than completing all hours in a single day).

This is an ideal role for someone passionate about student engagement, events, and building community. Volunteers will gain practical experience in event coordination and communications, develop skills in stakeholder and participant management, expand their networks, receive hands-on exposure and mentoring, and enjoy perks such as discounted tickets to Women 4 STEM events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with other Student Engagement Coordinators to provide clear event information to students – including agenda, logistics, start/finish times, and expectations – via a shared email inbox and dedicated Discord server
  • Collaborate with other Student Engagement Coordinators to share updates, answer student FAQs, and engage participants online
  • Coordinate with Events Coordinators (Main, Partner and Webinar) to ensure consistent communication with students about upcoming events
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Ticketing Lead to support event registration processes and promote events to maximise student sign-ups and attendance
  • Provide on-the-day support for students, including registration desks, guiding participants, and answering questions
  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring student needs are met (e.g., accessibility, dietary, support questions)
  • Coordinate with Data Analysts to ensure post-event surveys are distributed, completed, collected, and insights shared internally. Additionally gather general student feedback and highlight common issues, FAQs, or improvements
  • Provide Student Engagement Coordinator with monthly reporting, summarising recent activities, challenges, and recommendations

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Organised and proactive, with attention to detail in managing registrations and communications
  • Friendly, approachable, reliable and enthusiastic, with a student-focused approach
  • Confident with Zoom and Teams; Google Meet experience a bonus
  • Experience with Slack is an advantage (not essential)
  • A passion for gender equality and supporting diversity in STEM education

What is the commitment?

  • Approximately 6 hours per week. Certain times are busier than others
  • The Grad Girls Program runs for 9 months (March–November). Applicants must commit for the full 2026 program
  • Flexibility to attend both in-person events and virtual meetings (note: team meetings may be outside business hours or on weekends
