Help Little Learners and Families Feel Welcome
Do you enjoy spending time with young children and helping families connect? Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is looking for friendly and enthusiastic Playgroup Buddy Volunteers to support our community playgroup sessions.
This rewarding role involves helping create engaging play experiences, setting up activity spaces and welcoming families into a safe, inclusive and fun environment where children can learn, play and grow.
About Vic Park Community Centre
Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is a vibrant, community-led organisation based in East Victoria Park. We provide programs, events and services that bring people together, reduce social isolation and create opportunities for lifelong learning and community connection.
Our playgroup program offers local families a welcoming space to connect with others, build friendships and support their children's development through play-based learning in a free-form way.
The Opportunity
As a Playgroup Buddy Volunteer, you'll help create a positive and engaging environment for children and their caregivers. Using VPCC's extensive collection of toys, books, craft materials and play resources, you'll assist in setting up simple play zones and basic craft activities that encourage creativity, exploration and social interaction.
You'll work alongside staff and families to help ensure every playgroup session is welcoming, organised and enjoyable.
Key Duties
Volunteers may assist with:
- Setting up and packing away playgroup spaces
- Creating engaging play zones using VPCC resources and equipment
- Preparing and supporting simple craft and sensory activities
- Welcoming families and helping new participants feel comfortable
- Encouraging positive play and social interaction
- Assisting with session organisation and tidying activities
- Helping maintain a safe and inclusive environment
- Supporting special playgroup events and celebrations when required
Skills and Experience
No formal qualifications are required. We're looking for volunteers who are:
- Friendly, patient and approachable
- Interested in supporting young children and families
- Creative and enthusiastic about play-based learning
- Comfortable setting up simple craft activities and play experiences
- Reliable and willing to work as part of a team
- Respectful of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Experience with children, families, education, childcare, playgroups or community programs is welcomed but not essential.

- Ability to participate in light setup and pack-down activities
- Commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Working With Children Check and Police Clearance
