The Australian Pet Welfare Foundation is a research charity that provides evidence-based solutions within the community to save the lives of pets and people. We are conducting a research project that is monitoring urban stray cats and wildlife around suburbs in Ipswich.

We are seeking a volunteer to help with camera trap deployment in Rosewood. You will be traveling around Rosewood with one of our staff members in their vehicle to set up 25-50 camera traps on residential properties over 1-2 days. Each day will typically start at 8:30am and finish around 3:00pm (but may run longer).

You will need the ability to get to Rosewood where our staff member will pick you up. You will also need the ability to sign digital volunteering forms and be briefed on the project prior to the fieldwork.

Camera trapping experience is not necessary, as you will be trained by our staff on the day. The role would suit an environmental student wanting to gain experience with camera trapping, however anyone is welcome to apply. Those only available for a single day are also welcome to apply.

In your application, please let us know which day you would like to help out with the fieldwork.

The role may be extended to working on processing the images captured by the cameras for interested volunteers if required. More information on this can be requested by emailing [email protected].
