Make a real difference for young families in your local community
We’re seeking Parent Support Volunteers to join our Home Start family support program in the Greater Bendigo and Macedon Ranges. This community services volunteering role supports new and early years parents through home visiting that is relationship based, practical and compassionate.
About the Role
As a Parent Support Volunteer, you’ll work alongside families in their homes to build confidence and connection. This family services volunteer role includes:
- Emotional encouragement and a listening ear
- Parenting guidance using your lived experience as a parent or caregiver
- Practical assistance to help with day-to-day challenges in early parenting
- Weekly face to face visits (1-2 hours) in Greater Bendigo or the Macedon Ranges
Your support helps reduce isolation and strengthens child and family wellbeing.
What You’ll Need
- Experience with parenting or caregiving
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working with Children Check
- National Criminal History Check (organised and paid by us)
- Willingness to complete our volunteer screening and preparation training
Desirable (not essential)
- Understanding of childhood milestones
- First Aid Certificate
- Driver’s Licence
