About the Program
The Social Connections Program aims to increase the well-being and social inclusion of older residents. As a Social Connections Program volunteer, you will make a real difference by supporting participants to engage in social activities and outings
Key Tasks:
- Act as the liaison between the participant and the coordinator
- Encourage participants to socialise and increase interactions with others.
- During a social outing on the bus, support the driver with navigation and communication where required.
Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:
- Good communication skills and a sense of humour
- A compassionate and patient approach when supporting older individuals
- Display enthusiasm and understanding, ensuring maximum involvement and independence.
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond to last-minute changes, ensuring the ongoing success of the program
Time Commitment:
Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexibility with choosing days and activities/outings
Special Requirements:
- Department of Human Services (DHS) Aged Care Clearance OR NDIS Worker Check Prior to commencement. This can be organised for you.
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet at various locations within the City of Onkaparinga, including primarily departing from the Field Operations Centre or Positive Ageing Centres, or meeting directly at program venues as required
