Fred's Van Gawler - Shopper & Kitchen Support

Vinnies provides a range of services to support people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation, including Fred’s Van, a volunteer-led emergency food service operating across South Australia.

Fred’s Van in Gawler provides a welcoming meal service on Thursday evenings from an indoor venue, supporting approximately 30–50 people each week. The Kitchen Volunteer helps with meal preparation, and assists with the smooth delivery of the evening meal.

We are looking for one volunteer to shop for ingredients and deliver the purchased ingredients to the Gawler's facility on Wednesday or Thursday. This role involves working within a team to organise shopping based on an existing menu framework. Some lifting is required. No personal financial contribution is required. Must have own transport.

It's optional to work as part of a team to prepare and serve food and provide support to guests. Tasks include meal preparation, dining room set up and pack down, meal service, clean up.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, approachable and confident working with people. You will work as part of a team and need to be flexible, cooperative and have good interpersonal skills.
