Volunteer Ride Leader

Lead a Neighbourly Ride or support from the back

Are you passionate about cycling, community, and helping people feel connected? Neighbourly Ride runs short, social rides for beginners and riders of all abilities across 4 locations in Melbourne, and we’re looking for friendly volunteers to help lead them. These rides are all about building confidence, having fun, and creating meaningful connections.

As a ride leader, you will:

• Guide and support participants during the ride, ensuring everyone feels safe and included
• Give clear, friendly instructions and demonstrate cycling skills where needed
• Encourage conversation, confidence, and connection among participants
• Help wrap up the ride with a friendly chat over coffee
• Support riders from the back if preferred, ensuring the group stays together and safe

Note

• Ride leaders don’t need to have bike mechanical skills like fixing punctures or changing tyres

We’re looking for volunteers who

• Are confident and competent cyclists, comfortable riding with small groups
• Have clear and friendly communication skills
• Enjoy meeting new people and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment
• Can commit to leading or supporting rides once a month (flexible)
• No formal qualifications are required, enthusiasm, patience, and a friendly attitude are what matter most!

Free ride leader training and ongoing support
