John Wesley Gardens Residential Aged Care Community is a vibrant place where volunteers help create connection, joy, and a sense of community. We are seeking a Bus Assistant Volunteer to support residents on their outings and add a spark of fun to Bingo sessions when needed.

These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles!

A Bus Assistant Volunteer can help residents by:

  • Engaging and connecting with residents.
  • Offering assistance to residents as they enter and exit the bus.
  • Occasionally assisting with Bingo activities.
  • Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteering hours available for this role are Thursdays from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

This program is located within the John Wesley Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
