Cooper House Residential Aged Care Community is seeking a passionate football fan to help run NRL and AFL tipping activities.

These activities are about much more than choosing winners - it brings people together. It encourages conversation, builds connection, and creates a real sense of community! Your support helps everyone join in the fun, stay involved, and feel part of something shared.

The Footy Fan Volunteer can help residents by:

  • Helping record weekly tips from residents.
  • Printing competition resources.
  • Updating and sharing the leader board.
  • Engaging residents in one‑on‑one sports conversations.
  • Bringing a bit of fun and footy spirit!
  • Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents with dementia. This role is especially suited to individuals who have experience with dementia or are willing to learn how to support and connect with residents living with dementia. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteer hours are available on Monday to Friday between 9:00am to 4:00pm. Your volunteering schedule will be agreed upon prior to commencement.

This program is located within the Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
